Choice Protection Insurance Program Guidelines During Tropical Storm/Hurricane Watches and Warnings
The Choice Protection Insurance Program has specific guidelines regarding enrollment before or during named weather events.
- If a customer enrolls into the Choice Protection Insurance Program while the county where the storage facility is located is under a tropical storm/hurricane “watch” or “warning,” then that customer’s policy would not go into effect until the midnight following the lifting of said watch or warning.
- If a customer enrolls at any time without a named “watch” or “warning” in place, their policy becomes effective on the desired effective date (as normal).
- The National Weather Service monitors storms and issues named storm “watches” and “warnings” as weather conditions dictate.
- To find out if your county is under a Watch or Warning, simply visit the National Weather Service website at http://www.weather.gov and enter your state in the search box provided.
